Obituary for Cindy K. Markel
Cindy K. (Shawley) Markel "Momma", 59, of Beaverdale PA, passed away 3/20/2019 after her courageous battle with AITL with her family at her side at West Penn Hospital. She was born to the late James Edward Shawley and Hilda King on 12/27/1959 in Somerset, PA, where she then attended North Star High School. she was employed at Church of the Brethren until November of 2017 and then retired. She is survived by husband Clifford William Markel married on August 17, 1977. 3 children: Heather(Shawley) wife of David Miller, Steven (Karen) Shawley, Cliff ( Jaemie) Markel. 9 grand children, 3 great grand children and three siblings; Evelyn Shroyer, Janet Chambers and James Shawley. A best friend Charlene "Char" Keiser. Cindy was an incredibly family oriented and loving person. Her biggest quote was "my family is my world". She was a caregiver at heart and took care of her mother, mother-in-law and father- in -law. Some of her favorite hobbies include: ATV rides to see wildlife (her favorite were the albino deer), spending time with her grandchildren outdoors, listening to music, raising various farm animals, and enjoyed all types of landscaping and outdoor activities. Memorial service will be held on Sunday March 24, 2019 from 1:30 until time of service at 3 PM at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Rev. Thomas Moore officiating.
