Obituary for William Ross Burkett
Burkett, William Ross, Jr. – 69 – Sidman, died April 14, 2018, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. He was born February 12, 1949, the son of Ernest Burkett, Sr. and Marion (Shephard) Burkett. He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Harry Plummer; and siblings, Barbara Burkett, Jerry Burkett, and Ernest Burkett, Jr.; and granddaughter, Stephanie (Burkett) Sendek. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Barbara J. (Plummer) Burkett; his mother-in-law, Violet (Wilson) Plummer; and his children, William and wife Kim (Stiles) of Johnstown, Sandra and husband Sean Kirchner of Berwick, and Jennifer Yatsky and companion Todd Olshavsky of Sidman; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, David Burkett of Camp Hill. He was a member of the NRA; a dedicated employee of Cooney Brothers Coal Company with over 35 years of service; and a 10 year employee of Creative Pultrusions. After retirement, he could be found at any and all times in his garage. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He loved quad riding, and supporting and spending quality time with his son, Bill, through hillclimbing. Family and friends will be received 4-8 PM Tuesday, at the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Beaverdale. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Moore.
