Obituary for Thomas J. Vandzura
Vandzura, Thomas John ,96, passed away November 18, at Autumns View Personal Care Home . Preceded in death by wife the former Julia Prostejovsky, son John, brothers and sisters, Irene, Anna, Andris, Phillip, Andrew, Pauline, Elmer, twin John, Leona and Ethel. Step brothers and sisters John, Michael, Martin, Charles, Joseph, Paul, Stephen, Agnes, Ann, and Andrew. Survived by his daughter Theresa (Vince) Arena of Johnstown. Step brother Sylvester (Wilhelmine) Baran of Salix; step sister-in-law Nell Baran of Portage and numerous nieces and nephews. Served his country in WWII as an Army sergeant in the European Theater and was a Purple Heart recipient. Employed at Randall Motor Co and retired from Leman Machine Co. in 1986.Member of Saint Michael Catholic Church. Life Member of PVFC, Founding member of PAAA. Tom loved life and people. He planted a huge garden every year to give it away. He always was there to help people. He loved his polka music and polkaed at every wedding. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage. Funeral Mass 11 AM Saturday, St. Michael Catholic Church. Committal St. Mary’s Cemetery Portage. A special thank you to Autumns View Personal Care Home, 365 Hospice, the army of people who helped him stay in his own home after the loss of his son. In lieu of flowers please make donations to PVFC or PAAA. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic social distancing will be practiced and mask are required at both the funeral home and funeral Mass. Theresa and Vince understand your concern for safety and ask that you say a prayer if you are unable to be with them.
