Burkett, Thomas, 85, Sidman PA died May 24, 2024 at home surrounded by his family and care givers. Tom was born February 22, 1939 in Ruthford, PA, the son of Robert and Mary (Rosey) Burkett. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert, James, and Joseph and sisters: Betty and Ray Osewalt and Nancy Boring . He is survived by his wife of 60 years the former Roseann Eckenrod and sons Theodore married to the former Jill Meyers of Sidman, PA and Thomas of Michigan. Also surviving are grandchildren Teddi Chuck) Kassick and Kristi and great grand children Paeton, Blake and Brooklyn, brother in law Hershel Boring, sister in law Beverly Burkett. Tom was a Veteran serving with the Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a shuttle car operator with Bird Coal Co. Member of the Sidman Methodist Church, and the St. Michael American Legion. He loved to tell stories and was an avid hunter and fisherman. At Tom’s request there will be no viewing or visitation but all are invited to attend the military graveside rites at 11 AM Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Dunmyer Cemetery, Elton. The family would like to thank the nursing help from the veterans and the compassionate care givers of 365 Hospice (Mary Ann, Lauren, Billie, Janine, and Pastor Bob).
