Cowan, Nora Ellen (McVicker), 87, Portage. Went to heaven June 26, 2021. Born August 16, 1933 in Johnstown, the daughter of Samuel E. and Edna L. (Dearmitt) McVicker. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands James L. Farren, William Oldham, and Richard Cowan, son Jesse Jay Farren, sisters Irene Dorothy McLaughlin, Jeannette Faye Law, and Darlene Marie Nagle, and an infant brother John. Survived by children: James S. Farren of Portage; Cynthia Dawn wife of Richard Tarachko of Portage and Terry Lee Farren and special friend Alan Fornari of Altoona. Niece Shannon Marie (Todd) Descavish . Grandchildren: Samuel Farren, James Farren, Sydney Bolin, Ryan Mathieson, Dustin Mathieson, Brooke Boland, Ian Tarachko, Tiffany Davenport and Jesse Switzer. Eighteen great grand children. Sister of Paul S. (Gloria) McVicker of Manheim, PA. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Family was most important to Nora. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and attended Bethany United Methodist Church . She received her GED in 1981 and worked in a number of local factories and was a care giver for elderly people in their homes until she herself was 80 years old.. The family is being served by the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage.
