Obituary for Marjorie L. Stager
STAGER – Marjorie L., 94, of Portage, died March 25, 2020. Born July 30, 1925, daughter of John & Anne (Spinner) Lazor. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Neal, who passed away in November of 2010. Also, daughter, Beth Leckenby; great-grandson, Neal; daughter-in-law, Thea Stager, and sister, Lois. She is survived by three children: son, Randy, Portage; Jim, Pompano Beach, Fla; and daughter, Anne, Hainesport, New Jersey. Also, two brothers, Robert (Margaret), Ebensburg; and James (Louise), Portage; eight grandchildren, Stacy Ebbert, Todd & Brad Stager, Yiva Leasure, Jason & Lance Leckenby, James Jeffrey and Danielle Stager; 17 great-grandchildren; and special golfing buddy, Margery Mayers. She was a graduate of Mt. Aloysius Jr. College, worked for the Bureau of Narcotics in Washington, D.C. until her marriage, at one time she was a volunteer at the Women’s Help Center. She was our family matriarch, counselor, and was always there when we needed her. Mom was very independent driving to Altoona, Ebensburg or Johnstown, and interested in reading books and working crossword puzzles, and insisted on cooking a 9-course family dinner every Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was small in stature, but had a big heart. She will be sadly missed. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family is being serviced by Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home.
