Obituary for Linda L. (Crichton) Miko

If you’re reading this, it means my story has ended, my earthly life is over and what a gift it was! I was the much loved and spoiled daughter of Andrew and Grace (Trombley) Crichton whose greatest gift to me was how much they loved and cared for each other for all their 68 years together.

Many of the lights in my life have gone before me; my husband John Miko, the love of my life, my parents, sister Barbara Miller, brother-in-law Vernon Miller, a niece Kelly Jean Miller, my great nephews, Joey Dubics and Christian Leckey and my best friend forever Joan (Ruffing) Herman.

Many lights will continue to grow and glow: the other best friend, Janice (Seckinger) Bolton and two Goddaughters, Kristene (Miller) Dubics and Marla (Mazzocco) Gardner.

The brightest lights in my world are my children and grandchildren. My children, Dr. John S. Miko, husband of Christa (Zahradnik) of Portage, Amy Donner wife of Kevin Donner, Lewisburg, Jude of Portage and Adrienne (Bob) Rabatin of Lilly. I marvel at how John and I got so lucky to have such wonderful children and when I look at them, I know we did something right. The grandchildren who continue to make me proud every day with their talents, laughter and immeasurable joy. Lucas, Mitchell, Andrew, Brock and Calla Miko, Jillie Donner and Taylor, Sophia and Marisa Rabatin, and my daughter from another Mother, Selena Delimata.

I was part of the Cambria Residential Services Family for 45 years, caring for people with intellectual disabilities. It was such a wonderful experience and I treasure great memories of some of the individuals I got to know, particularly Harold and Jimmy. Many of the individuals had little community experience and it was exciting to watch them grow and learn. I think I got more than I gave.

I was active in the community of Portage because I loved living here my whole life. I was part of Portage Area Recreation Commission, Portage Area Endowment Committee, Jaycees and the Portage Historical Society and I also managed Prospect Cemetery. I am always Portage Proud.

If we were friends, I sincerely thank you for your friendship. For anyone who helped me along the way, you touched my heart and I treasure your friendship as well. There are many people who helped and supported me along my journey: Marci, Murph, Janice, Joy & Jimmy, Jeanie, Rosie and Ida to name a few.

As Chief Crazy Horse said, “Death comes to all things except the mountains and the oceans”. He was right and now it was my turn. I look back on a happy life. I loved and was loved. What more could I ever want?

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Camp PARC, P.O. Box 404, Davidsville, PA They provide wonderful experiences for people with intellectual disabilities of all ages and are run by volunteers. It is truly a wonderful program.

Friends received from 3-7 Pm Friday June 14, 2024 at the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage and from 10 AM until time of service 11 AM Saturday June 15, 2024.
