Obituary for Helen A. Silagyi
Silagyi, Mrs. Helen A. (Augustine), 99, Portage, entered into new life January 7, 2020 as a resident of Garvey Manor. She was born August 6, 1920, in Portage the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Papp) Augustine. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Michael, who passed away on December 22, 1994 ending a marriage of 53 years; brothers and sisters in law George and Ann Smilnak, Joseph, Wendell and Elizabeth Kuthy, Julie, Gerry, Eugene and Elizabeth, William, John and Helen Pizurki, and Stephen. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and dear friend Catherine Yanzetich. She was a member of the former Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Portage and was a very active member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She graduated from Mt. Aloysius High School and attended Mt. Aloysius Junior College. Friends will be received from 2-5 PM with a rosary at 4 PM on Monday January 13, 2020 at the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church on Caldwell Ave. in Portage. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Portage. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to John Paul II Manor the Sisters of Mercy or the Sister Servants of the Sacred Hear of Jesus.
