Obituary for Dorothy G. Yusko
Yusko, Dorothy, 95, Portage. Entered into new life May 16, 2020 at Amber Hills, Ebensburg. Born April 8, 1925 in Beaverdale the daughter of Earl and Lottie (Chappell) McVicker. Preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 71 years, George E.; brother Ray and sister in law Jean McVicker; sisters in law Eleanor Yusko and Joyce Yusko, and nephew Jeff Yusko. Surviving are her children; Sharon wife of Dave Kiel and Gary and wife Paula all of Portage. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Joshua Yusko and fiancé Tanya Eppley and great grandchildren Ashley and Shawn; and Justin Kiel and fiancé Mary Plunkett and great grandson Dallas. Sister of Earl Delmas (Rosemary) McVicker of Johnstown. Brothers in law, Wayne (Audrey) Yusko of Portage, Charles Yusko of Georgia, and Glenn Yusko of Portage. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Above everything family and church were the most important things in her life. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Portage where she sang in the choir, helped with Bible School, Youth Fellowship. She was one of the “gob ladies” of Bethany church who made thousands of gobs for each sale, and gave a hand with soup sales, bake sales, banquets and funeral dinners. She and her husband also enjoyed camping at Lake Raystown each summer where they would see their very special friend, Park Ranger Donald Donaldson each trip. Later in life when she was unable to drive, she attended church activities with her special friend Lillian Randall. Due to COVID 19 funeral service will be private. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the workers at Amber Hills who always showed our Mom such love and compassion. She loved all of you! Also a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice for all the loving support given to our Mom and our family. In lieu of flowers donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the kitchen fund of Bethany United Methodist Church, 700 Farren St., Portage, PA 15946. The Yusko family is being served by Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage.
