Carol (Kiel) Elchin, born on April 29, 1947, in Windber, PA, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home in Hollidaysburg, PA. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Anne (Smardo) and Robert Kiel, her sister Eileen Dobrowlsky, her husband James, her beloved son Chad and many animal friends that were like children to her. Carol is survived by her children, Sherry, Erica and Adam, her siblings Richard Kiel, Raymond (Jake) Kiel, Annette Illig and Lorraine Kiel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol graduated from Portage Area High School in 1965 and had many callings in her life including lapidary jeweler, pet store owner and caregiver at residential services. She loved animals of all kinds and never passed a field of cows without stopping to express her love. She enjoyed tending to her garden, crafting and making jewelry and had a passion for geology. Carol’s love, wisdom, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
