Obituary for Betty V. Cann
Cann, Betty V., Portage. Entered into a new life April 20, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born May 22, 1938 Johnstown, the daughter of Harry A. and Alberta F. (Helsel) Cann. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Kenneth (Barbara) McMonegal,

Jack (Alice) McMonigal, and niece Sandy McMonigal. Survived by Janet (Harry ) Kuni, Karen (Rob) Eggleston, Billy (Gerry) McMonigal , Donald McMonegal ,the Ritchey Family, great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces, nephews, and close friends Joey Derrick and Betsy Hartman. Betty was a member of First Lutheran Church, Portage Area Historical Society and the Portage Library and in her younger years she dedicated her time and energy on various committees and attending meetings promoting events in Portage. She was a graduate of Clarion University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education and Duquesne University where she received a Masters in Library Science. She retired from Chestnut Ridge School District with many years of service. A special thank you to the young ladies who provided great care as well as much laughter and joy over many days in the past year and to the many friends and neighbors who also showed Aunt Betty care and kindness.

Friends received from 1PM until the time of the service at 3PM Sunday April 23 at First Lutheran Church. Interment Prospect Cemetery, Portage. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Historical Society, Portage Library ,or First Lutheran Church
