Michael Paul Hudak Sr
Born October 26, 1921 in Edinboro, PA
Son of Stephen and Anna (Dill) Hudak
Died at home on February 14th
Proud lifetime resident of Lloydell/Beaverdale community.
Preceded in death by parents, wife, Rose Marie (Libertine) Hudak, brother John, and sisters Mary, Ann, Verna and Margaret.
Survived by children Mary of Atlanta, Michael Jr (Wendy) of Johnstown, and Edward of Beaverdale, and brother Joseph of College Park, MD. Proud Pap to grandchildren Kristen of Baltimore, MD, Michael III (Kasey) of Palmyra, Dr. Stephen (Susan) of Pittsburgh, Juliann of Atlanta, and great grandson Bennett Michael. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young man, he worked for the Ideal Market, and later was an agent for the Metropolitan Insurance Company until going to work for the US Postal Service. Mike retired from the US Postal Service as Postmaster, Sidman Post Office.
Mike was a World War II veteran, and a lifetime member and past Commander, and Chaplin of the Beaverdale American Legion Post 460. He also was a lifetime member of the Beaverdale Volunteer Fire Company, and a founding member of the St. Josephs Cemetery Association, He belonged to the Beaverdale/South Fork Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus.
Mike lived a long, full life, and his children are grateful to all who provided comfort and care in his final days. Barb Nyda, become part of the family and because of her special attention and tender care, he was able to always stay in his own home. We also send special thanks to the inpatient and home care staff of the Altoona Van Zandt VA Medical Center Blue team, and the Windber Hospice unit, in particular Marie and Diane who recently attended to his daily needs.
Friends will be received from 2:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Beaverdale. Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM, St. Michael Catholic Church, Fr. Brian Warchola celebrant. Committal with military honors at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Beaverdale.

Donations in Mike’s name may be made to the Beaverdale Volunteer Fire Company, Box 162, Beaverdale, PA 15921; the Beaverdale Public Library, Box 606 Beaverdale, PA 15921, or Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963.
